Subscription Policy

This Subscription Policy describes the terms of paid subscriptions to the Clony mobile application ("the App"), operated by Clony / Robin Michel / AI Companion ("we", "us", "our"). It supplements and forms part of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

By purchasing a subscription you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not purchase a subscription.

1. What a Clony subscription includes

Clony offers a free tier and one or more paid subscription tiers. Paid tiers unlock increased usage quotas and premium features, including (depending on tier):

  • a higher monthly character limit for voice memos,

  • a higher per-memo character limit,

  • additional voice, video, or song generations,

  • priority access to new features.

The exact entitlements, price, billing cycle, and any free trial are displayed in the App on the subscription screen before you confirm the purchase. Those in-app details prevail if they differ from any marketing description.

2. How billing works

  • All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your credit-card number or bank details.

  • Subscription entitlements are managed on our side through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous purchase token from Apple or Google.

  • Prices are shown in your local currency where supported by the store, and include applicable VAT or sales tax.

  • The charge is made to your Apple ID or Google account at the moment of purchase and upon each automatic renewal.

3. Auto-renewal (important)

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (for example, monthly or annually, as shown at purchase) at the then-current price for the same tier.

  • You will be charged through your Apple or Google account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

  • To avoid being charged for the next period, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

  • Cancelling does not refund the current period; you retain access to premium features until the end of the period you have already paid for.

4. How to cancel

Because payment runs through the app stores, you must cancel through the store you purchased from — we cannot cancel on your behalf.

If you cancel before the end of a free trial (where offered), you will not be charged. Make sure to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

5. Free trials and promotional offers

  • Where a free trial or promotional/introductory price is offered, the specific terms (duration, eligibility, follow-on price) are shown in the App at the point of purchase.

  • Each user is eligible for a free trial only once per store account, unless Apple, Google, or Clony grants an exception.

  • If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription automatically converts to a paid subscription at the then-current regular price.

6. Refunds

Refunds are handled by the store you purchased from. We cannot issue refunds directly.

EU / EEA / UK consumers — right of withdrawal: Under EU Directive 2011/83/EU and equivalent UK law you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services. By purchasing a subscription and beginning to use the paid features, you expressly request that the service be performed before the end of the withdrawal period, and you acknowledge that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal (Art. 16(m) of the Directive). If you have not used any paid feature you may exercise your withdrawal right by contacting contact@clony.app or by using the store's refund process above.

7. Price changes

  • We may change subscription prices from time to time. Any price change applies only to future billing periods.

  • You will be notified of a price change in the App and/or by the store in advance, as required by Apple and Google policies and by applicable law, and given the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.

  • If you do not cancel, the new price applies at the start of the next billing period.

8. Quotas, fair use, and throttling

  • Paid tiers include monthly quotas shown in the App (for example, total characters per month, number of videos).

  • Quotas reset on a rolling 30-day basis from the start of your current subscription period.

  • We may apply fair-use throttling to usage we reasonably believe is abusive, automated, or intended to bypass quotas (for example, scripted generation at scale). In extreme cases of abuse, we may suspend the account under Section 10 of the Terms of Service.

  • Unused quota does not carry over to the next period.

9. Changes to features

  • We may add, modify, or remove features of a paid tier at any time for product, legal, or operational reasons.

  • Where a change is material and adverse to a paid subscriber (for example, removing a core feature), we will give reasonable notice and, where required by law, offer the right to cancel with a prorated refund through the store.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate a paid subscription, with or without refund as required by applicable law, if:

  • you materially breach the Terms of Service (in particular Section 4 on consent and prohibited use),

  • we are required to do so by law or by Apple / Google,

  • your payment is reversed, charged back, or otherwise fails.

You may cancel at any time via the store. Cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing period.

11. Account restoration and switching devices

If you reinstall the App or sign in on a new device, tap Restore Purchases on the subscription screen. This asks Apple or Google for your purchase history and restores your entitlement via RevenueCat. You must sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account that was used at purchase.

12. Taxes

Prices shown in the App include applicable VAT or sales tax where the store is the merchant of record (which is the case for both Apple and Google in most jurisdictions). Consult your local tax authority if you have questions about your personal tax position.

13. Consumer rights

Nothing in this Subscription Policy excludes or limits statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under the law of your jurisdiction, including rights of withdrawal and statutory warranty rights in the EU, UK, and other regions.

For EU online dispute resolution, the European Commission's ODR platform is available at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

14. Governing law

This Subscription Policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence if you are an EU consumer.
